Once I became a mom I came across many articles online with moms raving about organic products. In my opinion, there is nothing more natural than oils extracted from plants. Using essential oils and other remedies less hazardous for you and your home benefits your health. Here are some essential oils home remedies to get you started.
Disinfectant Spray Cleaner: In an 8-ounce spray bottle, combine 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 cup of distilled water and 20 drops of lemon essential oil. Shake before spraying on countertops and surfaces to wipe down.
All-Purpose Spray Cleaner: In an 8-ounce spray bottle, combine 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 1/2 cup of distilled water, 8 drops of peppermint essential oil, 8 drops of orange oil and 8 drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Shake before spraying on counter tops and surfaces to wipe down.
Carpet Deodorizer: Combine a box of baking soda with 5 drops of peppermint oil and sprinkle on top of your carpet. Let the solution sit and soak in for an hour then vacuum your carpet.
Cleaner Dishes: Add a few drops of lemon essential oil to the dishwasher before washing for a spot-free rinse.
Mop Formula: In a cleaning bucket, add 1 gallon of hot water, 1 cup of vinegar and 20 drops of lemon essential oil and 15 drops of orange essential oil. Time to Mop away your floors!

How to Use Orange:
To stimulate the senses and energize your body, have a warm bath and pour 30 drops of orange essential oil in the bathtub, along with 15 drops of lavender. The citrusy and floral smell will help you feel relaxed and calm. By the time you are finished, you will be refreshed. Inhale directly from the bottle for a second to instantly get fresh. Use 5-10 drops of it in a diffuser and let the smell of sweet oranges uplift your mood and energy.
How to Use Peppermint:
To improve concentration and retain energy levels, add a few drops of it to your essential oil diffuser. Add just 1 drop of peppermint oil along with 5 drops of rosehip oil on the palm of your hand. Rub it all over your face especially under the nose for a morning energy booster. For those days when you just can’t seem to gather up the energy to work out and need a quick pick me up, just inhale this minty energizer to start exercising.
How to Use Patchouli:

Did you know tea tree oil is an antiseptic? You can use a tea tree oil recipe to remove the acne scars from your face. Lavender is one of the best essential oils for acne due to its antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. It helps to remove the cause of the acne while nourishing the skin. It soothes and heals dry skin, dark spots, and other blemishes caused by acne.
Create your own acne scare removal ointment:
- 4 tsp of Honey
- 6 drops of Lavender essential oil 6 drops of Tea Tree essential oil
- 6 drop of Frankincense essential oil
1. Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them together.
2. Make sure that you have washed your face before applying this paste.
3. Apply the paste over dry skin.
4. Let it sit for an hour.
5. Rinse it off with cool water.
Create your own natural face wash:
- 2 tsp of Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 6 tsp of Honey
- 2 tsp of Apple cider vinegar
- 40 drops of Tea Tree essential oil
1. Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them together.
2. Once the mixture is ready, pour it into a bottle.
3. Store it in a cool, dry location that’s easy to access.
