What you want can be obtained if you believe. Seriously, it is not a cliche.
Would you rather steer the boat that will bring you back to shore OR allow the boat to choose the path for you?
By the end of this article, you should be able to answer this question for yourself.
So, how do you break out of a rut?
When you’re stuck between who you are, who you want to be, and who you should be and you’ve hit a roadblock, it can be difficult to navigate. In this article, I am going to discuss the steps you can take to get out of a rut. How to put a plan into place and how to take action on that plan. How to stay motivated when the plan isn’t going the way you originally wanted it to. And finally, how to overcome the fear that keeps you stuck?
The two biggest hurdles most need to overcome that holds them back the most is fear of failure and perfectionism. However, sometimes life happens and our experiences can stunt our growth if we allow. Especially if those experiences are stressful or devasting.
So no matter where you are in your life or whatever you’ve been experiencing lately know that you are more than capable to pull it together and start to walk down the path of your choosing. Now is the time to rise up... you are the love you seek!Click To Tweet
I am very connected to tarot. As I was writing this article the 2 of Wands card appeared to me.
Tarot: 2 of Wands
Card Upright: Future planning, progress, decisions, discovery
Card Reversed: Fear of unknown and lack of planning
If the path original chose turned out the be the path that doesn’t necessarily align with your deepest desires and values then it’s time to go back to the drawing board.
I invite you to create a new plan or try something new that will help you to change the course of your life.
You know never where you’ll end up until you get there. And that is what makes the journey of life interesting and exciting. Decide what you want to do and then give it a try.'Don't wait to be inspired, take action.'Click To Tweet
Plan, set goals and take action
When you’ve hit a wall it’s best to go back to the drawing board. You could start off by asking yourself questions like, what do I want?
What are the intentions behind my desires?
What will keep me from reaching my goals?
Create a plan of action and then figure out how you’re going to accomplish your plan. Allow room to experience. It was the experiences we had that are stored in our memories that recall happiness, joy, and love. As well as the experiences that store sad memories.
Try this exercise on for size: This exercise is similar to a pro’s and con’s exercise with a little twist.
- Grab a piece of paper
- Write down your 1 goal at the very top of the paper.
- Now, make a line down the middle
- On the right side list all the reasons why you want to accomplish the goal you listed at the top of the page. Every single one you can think of.
- On the left side of the list write down all of the obstacles that will get in the way of you accomplishing your goal.
- The final step is not like the pros and cons list. Here’s the twist. Now on the back of that paper OR next to each obstacle write down what you can do to crush that obstacle.
You see, we don’t have to allow those obstacles get in our way. We can take a different approach and find a way to crush it or a way around it. Maybe we need a certain mindset, certain people, a certain environment, more knowledge on the topic. Whatever it may be. We must be willing to drive ourselves forward with force or we will left stuck or worse unfulfilled.“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” - Antoine de Saint-ExupéryClick To Tweet
Celebrate even the small wins
By celebrating the small wins it will allow the enthusiasm to continue so you don’t lose momentum.
It is so easy to lose sight of a goal when we are faced with obstacles or when things are slowly coming to fruition.
I believe everything happens when and how it should be based on the energy and current vibrations present.
I find it fascinating that when we change our thoughts and then our beliefs the energy can shift and you can begin to experience something entirely different.
We’ve seen this happen time and time again.
For example, you’re at a party and all of a sudden two people at the party start to argue.
The host of the party runs over to break up the frustration brewing between the two. He grabs each one of them by the shoulder and reminds them that we’re here to have a good time with a huge smile on his face.
The energy in the room shifted from anxiety, worry, and frustration. Everyone slowly goes back to their conversation and the two people who were arguing goes separates.
Sometimes it only takes a motion backed by the right vibration to shift the energy within the environment.
How do we dissipate fear? Love.
How do we dissipate anger? Love.
Fear and anger are very commonly used in society. Let’s explore fear, shall we?
Fear will hold you back if you allow it.
Of course, I fear things, such as public speaking. I don’t always find the right words and my speech isn’t always fluid. I am not a natural born speaker. It will be something I will need to practice a lot.
I have started with podcasting because I can prepare and I can edit out my mistakes. I am not great at it, but I will become great the more I work at it and the better equipment I obtain.
I’m okay with being a “work in progress” because I am trying. Instead of giving every excuse why I am not going to try.
So, if you are in a rut because you fear not being perfect at what you want to do or try to do.
I say try it anyway. It won’t kill you if you don’t do it perfect the first time or twenty times. Just continue to be your authentic self and try your best. I would say that most of the time it is the story we are painting in our heads. We fear the judgment that comes with us stepping out into the light and doing something we fear.
No one likes being judged or criticized. It sucks. But it sucks, even more, looking back 5 to 10 years from now wishing you would have given it a try.
Reconnect with your vision for your life and move forward with trust, faith, and patience.
